Customisation of a one-of-a-kind AEG QX9 and social media campaign
THE CHALLENGE
AEG Germany launched a campaign to challenge the idea that home appliances should be hidden away. They wanted to show that well-designed technology deserves to be seen and appreciated, just like any other design piece in a home. As part of this campaign, they selected two artists to transform their vacuum cleaners into statement pieces. Rather than simply applying a design to the appliance, I wanted to take it a step further. My goal was to bring my illustrated world into real life, turning the vacuum cleaner itself into one of my illustrations.

How might I turn a vacuum cleaner from a home appliance to a work of art one wants to display instead of hide?

THE OUTCOME
I hand-painted a unique design onto the vacuum cleaner, using the bold colors and playful elements that usually exist in my digital illustrations. To make the customization even more immersive, I created custom taglines that were applied to its accessories, making the entire piece feel like an extension of my artistic universe. The final result was more than just a decorated appliance: it was a functional, high-quality object that felt fun, interactive, and meaningful in everyday life. Alongside the artwork, I contributed to the larger social media campaign by creating a reel and photo content, helping bring the concept of visible, design-forward appliances to a mine and the brand’s audience in the DACH area.
